WHY HAS GRIMSBY MP LIA NICI ACCEPTED £10,000 WINDFALL FROM MYSTERY DONOR?

Grimsby MP Lia Nici - should she explain payments?

WHY is Grimsby MP Lia Nici receiving monies from private donors?

The question is legitimate  given the current furore over lobbying and over politicians accepting monies from individuals and/or organisations who may be seeking to influence policy-making.

Based on the latest Register of MPS' Financial Interests, Martin Vickers (Con, Cleethorpes) and Victoria  Atkins (whose Louth constituency embraces villages such as Holton-le-Clay and Tetney) seem to have no questions to answer.

Ms Nici is also  a member of North East Lincolnshire Council, but has  ceased claiming remuneration  from the Town Hall coffers.

But who is Ian McVeigh who gifted her £10,000 in October last year? Is he one of her constituents? And for what purpose did he make the donation? And for what purpose did she accept it?

And who are Stalbury Trustees who chipped in with £5,000 to help local party funds?

Maybe it is all entirely appropriate and justifiable, but public perception is important.

In the interests of openness and transparency, Grimsby's MP should clarify why she accepted these payments and how the cash will be allocated.

Below are the entries of the three MPs in the Register as updated earlier this month, plus - by way of comparison - that of the Prime Minister.
