Jane Hyldon-King - star quality
A TOTAL of 71 candidates have put their names forward for next month's poll in North East Lincolnshire.
But popular former mayor Jane Hyldon-King is not one of them - she is not seeking re-election in Grimsby's Yarborough ward.
After serving the borough for most of the past 20 years and more, she has decided to call time on her active career in local government, though she will remain involved with community issues where she feels she can make a positive difference.
Cllr Hyldon-King, who now often relies on a wheelchair to get out and about, revealed that she was not seeking re-election when she 'attended' this week's online meeting of NELC's tourism scrutiny panel.
The Grimsby News says: Jane Hyldon-King has been a fantastic servant to North East Lincolnshire - always enthusiastic, upbeat and friendly to everyone. Although committed to the Labour cause, she has always been popular across the party spectrum. Here's hoping that, in whatever capacity, she will remain at the forefront of community life.
I do not know you but you have served your area for many many years with true dedication and wisdom and although I have never lived in your district you will be sorely missed trevor gibson
