Pop festivals, open-air theatre productions, bikers' rallies, classic car meetings, trade fairs, volleyball tournaments and other events could be staged, post-pandemic, in a bid to revitalise Grimsby's Riverhead Square.
At this week's meeting of North East Lincolnshire Council's cabinet, members agreed that fresh thinking was urgently needed to bring the square out of its current doldrums.
Urban designers will soon be commissioned to come up with imaginative - and realistic - ideas.
The Grimsby News says: Why does the council need to expensive engage urban designers to come up with ideas? Is there insufficient imagination and dynamism within the ranks of its own officers and the 42 councillors? If this is the case, why not throw the project out to the public? There are plenty of highly creative thinkers within the community who would doubtless volunteer their ideas for free.
Thought the bus stands were being moved back there.
ReplyDeleteThis council has no ideas for use of anything they just like wasting money on crazy projects. Money is desperately needed to bring mental health care in line with the needs of the town but they waste it on redoing things already done
