Cleethorpes Country Park - is it being maintained to the highest standards |
CLEETHORPES Country Park will come under the spotlight next week at a North East Lincolnshire Council scrutiny panel meeting.
A report by Lisa Logan, NELC's head of open spaces states: "The park was given Local Nature Reserve status in 2008, and the council is working on producing a new management plan.
"The council continues to undertake both routine and emergency/essential maintenance but recognises that some aspects of the park have fallen below the standard we would hope to achieve."
She continues: "A number of plans are currently being explored - for example, reed control, signage and maintenance of bridges, viewing points and the former WCs building.
"We are considering alternative ways to increase investment in the park to address some of the issues raised by members of the public."
The report goes on: "Due to the enormous amount of rainfall we have encountered, some footpaths have been subject to flooding, and those areas which are frequently visited have become muddy.
"The water table is also very high at the moment, a problem not exclusive to this area but observed across the borough and UK.
"Unfortunately, we do not currently have a solution to this problem.
"We welcome feedback from park users and local individuals and groups who are active within their communities.
"If there is an appetite to work together to improve the country park, the council would welcome ideas and support."
A site visit by councillors is expected to take place later this month.
There are concerns that some of the footbridges have become hazardous and that the reedbed growth is out of control |
