A splash of after-dark colour - but would it enhance or degrade Grimsby's historic Corporation Bridge?

A proposal is afoot to illuminate Grimsby's Corporation Bridge with coloured lights. Above is an example of what specialist firm Urbis-Schreder has in mind to brighten up the bridge after dark. However, the initiative is likely to sparkle controversy. Some will see it as creative and imaginative, but others will deem it Las Vegas-style tacky. The bridge, which dates back to 1872, is Grade II Listed, so Listed Building  consent would most likely be required from North East Lincolnshire Council   before the project could go ahead.
