BAR-RESTAURANT PROPOSAL SHOULD BREATHE FRESH LIFE INTO EMPTY SEAFRONT PROPERTY

All set for a revamp - the Woodliffe Villa premises on Alexandra Road

PLANS are  afoot to breathe new life into a former chippie on Cleethorpes seafront.

A proposal by Humberston man Steve Parker to convert the ground-floor of 41 Alexandra Road as prelude to opening a new bar and restaurant has been approved by North East Lincolnshire Council.

As part of the scheme, there will a new front and other alterations.

The proposed works required Listed Building consent because the property is a  Grade II listed property, known as Woodliffe Villa, and located  within the Cleethorpes Central Seafront Conservation Area.

The first-floor  balcony has this summer been very attractively enhanced with hanging baskets, though the impact has been minimised while the ground-floor is disused.

It is thought Mr Parker's initiative will mark another step in the ongoing regeneration of the resort.
