Rich in heritage - Grimsby's famous 'kasbah |
OH come all ye to the 'kasbah' on Saturday September 16.
That's today's message from ABP which plans to host a walkabout on Heritage Open Day.
The event will also include family-friendly activities and talks, as well as guided tours.
Says: Simon Bird, regional director of the Humber ports: "This will be an opportunity to find out how the kasbah is being used by the film and TV sector as a location.
"It will also showcase ABP’s ambitions to bring a new identity to the location.
"Visitors can learn about the past but also about the future and the work being undertaken to preserve the area's unique s identity."
Volunteer archivist Garry Crosland will give a talk on railways and how they helped shape the port, and Emma Lingard, ABP’s communications manager and avid historian, will give a talk on the architecture of the site.
The open day will take place from 10am to 4pm, with free admission.
