NEW USE FOR FORMER BETTING SHOP COULD CREATE 12 JOBS IN CLEETHORPES MARKET PLACE

Spruce-up in prospect for former betting shop

THE former William Hill betting shop in Cleethorpes Market Place could become an adult gaming centre.

A planning application has been submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council by agent Haris Kasuji on behalf of  Luxury Leisure (part of the Novomatic Group), a provider of gaming and entertainment venues with more than  230 high street and seaside gaming venues in the UK.

Says Mr Kasuji: "Internally, there will be no noisy amusement arcade equipment which attracts under-18s and has an impact on amenity.

"Unlike an ‘arcade’ which is noisy in order to attract passing custom of all ages, there is a statutory obligation - as per betting shop uses - to exclude under-18s."

The intention is to create 12 full- and part-time jobs and to invest in sprucing up the premises.

A planning decision is expected from the council this autumn.
