Oh no, not yet more signage in Cleethorpes! Council unveils plan for up to 25 to be installed along seafront

A PLAN has been unveiled by North East Lincolnshire Council to install more signage on Cleethorpes seafront - as many as 25 along  Kings Road.

The initiative comes despite the authority's inability - or unwillingness - to maintain its existing signs along the foreshore walkway, many of  which have long since fallen into disrepair.

The intention is for the new signs to be attached to  lamp-posts.

The proposal from officers in the council's tourism unit is under consideration by their colleagues in the planning department.

The Grimsby News says: It is impossible to say anything good about this proposal. The images are gloomy, bland or bossy - or, in at least one instance, a combination of all three. They impart no useful information and will have a despoiling and urbanising impact on what is currently a leafy, semi-countryside  part of Cleethorpes. What is more they will soon enough be disfigured by droppings from the gulls that regularly use the lamp-posts as perching points. NELC would be well advised to scrap this ill-considered  proposal without more ado. There are far better ways for it  to spend council taxpayers' money.
