Scrapping of pre-9.30 time restriction is sure to be welcomed by older and disabled bus pass holders

All aboard! Free bus passes are a welcome perk for older passengers

THERE is good news today for senior citizens and disabled who hold concessionary passes allowing them free travel on buses.

At present, they are not permitted to use their passes before 9.30am on weekdays.

However, as from next Monday, June 3, the time restriction will be scrapped and, if they hold passes issued by North East Lincolnshire Council, they will be allowed to travel pre-9.30am.

Says Matt Cranwell, managing director at Stagecoach East Midlands: "We are pleased to work with the council  to expand the hours of free travel for local concessionary pass holders.

"Being able to use bus passes before 9.30am  on weekdays will give people greater travel flexibility especially when booking GP and hospital appointments.

"Buses provide vital transport connections for our communities and help improve the independence, health and well-being of our older customers."
