First step to becoming a minister? Lia Nici with the PM
GREAT Grimsby MP Lia Nici has today confirmed that the Prime Minister has appointed her one of his parliamentary private secretaries.
The step up the political ladder is a reward not just for her steadfast loyalty to Boris Johnson during his current travails but also because he admires her political doggedness.
Clarification of what her additional responsibilities might be are expected to emerge in the following days.
Tradionally, private parliamentary secretaries are expected to provide the 'eyes and ears' of what backbench MPs are thinking and saying.
Alas, there is no extra remuneration but the position could open a lot of doors both to the MP and to the constituency she serves.
In the meantime, Ms Nici says: "I am honoured to have been appointed by the Prime Minister."
