HUGE SADNESS AS POPULAR GRIMSBY MAN LOSES LIFE IN HEATHROW CAR CRASH

Dominic - loved and admired

THE New Year has begun on a very sad note in the Grimsby area with the news that local man Dominic Fell (23) was one of three young people who lost their lives in a car accident on New Year’s Eve.

All had been on their way to work as BA cabin staff when the white Toyota Yaris car in which they were travelling was in collision with a Mercedes HGV outside Heathrow Airport.

A fourth occupant of the car is in hospital with serious injuries.

A former student at Waltham Toll Bar school and Grimsby Institute, Dom - as he was known to family and friends - also studied at college in the Elephant and Castle area of South London.

His medium term ambition was to become a newspaper photographer, and he did work experience at the Grimsby Telegraph.

In the meantime, he was working as an airline cabin officer, partly to widen his work experience and partly because he loved travelling - especially to the USA where his father lives.

He was a loving son to his devoted mother, Christina McGilligan-Fell, a former mayor of North East Lincolnshire.

Indeed, he always supported her during local election campaigns when she represented Grimsby’s Park Ward.

During her mayoral year, he sometimes acted as her consort and, in this capacity, is understood to have met former Prime Minister David Cameron when he came to Cleethorpes a few years ago for Armed Forces Day.

Kind, gentle, amusing and modest - but also enterprising and determined - Dom will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
