THE onset of icy weather in the Grimsby area has already taken its toll.
On the first days of this week, no fewer than 12 people have slipped and broken their hips.
This has put additional pressure on the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital at what is already a particularly busy time of year.
The knock-on effect is that some patients already on the waiting list for bone surgery have had their appointments postponed until later this month or the New Year.
