Franklin College unveils plan to establish artificial grass pitch on its Grimsby campus

Grimsby's sixth form college is ambitious to enhance recreational opportunities

THESE are busy times for Grimsby's Franklin College.

Having recently been given the all-clear by East Lincolnshire Council to install 1.2-metre high perimeter fencing, the college for 16-19-year-olds now intends to establish an artificial grass pitch.

The proposal also includes the installation of perimeter fencing, access gates, hardstanding areas  and floodlighting columns to facilitate after-dark sport.

It is hoped there will be no disturbance or inconvenience to neighbours in the Chelmsford Avenue.

Assuming NELC gives the planning go-ahead, the lighting will have to be directed away both from hedges where songbirds may be roosting or nesting and from the flightpaths of foraging bats.
