AGENTS for the firm hoping to build an indoor salmon-rearing 'farm' on scrubland in Cleethorpes have issued an assurance on disposal of wastewater.

In a statement, they say: "All wastewater from the facility will be monitored, analysed and treated where required.

"Each daily discharge will be stored in alternate daily tanks capable of holding 1000 cubic metres.

"Prior to controlled discharge each tank will be analysed and treated as required.

"Should it be required to hold a discharge, then the water will be quarantined until treated.

"Should it be required to treat the water further to meet the discharge limits, then it will be recycled through and isolated water treatment tank within the facility.

"All solids sludge from this process will be removed to specialist operator."

The statement adds: "The small amount of processing wastewater from the daily stun, bleed and gut operation will be sent to the town mains treatment system."

The salmon-rearing application - which has generated much controversy -  is still being considered by North East Lincolnshire Council planners.
