A FEW SHRUBS OR FLOWERS WOULD SURELY BRIGHTEN UP NORTH END OF PROMENADE?

In need of some tender, loving care - the four neglected planters at the north end of North Promenade

Whatever the weather, whatever the season, the  ornamental gardens on Central Promenade, Cleethorpes, are always a pleasant sight to behold. But sadly the North Promenade is the poor relation. These planters are a sorry sight, full of soil and a few cigarette butts but not much else. Here's hoping North East Lincolnshire Council enhances them before the start of the main visitor-season. There is a precedent - between the railway station and the former Wonderland building, there are four other individual planters, each containing, a low-maintenance, wind-resistant tropical shrub.

A splash of green amid the concrete - one of the tropical shrubs
