Massacre of the wild flowers - does council have no heed for the butterflies and the bees?

The sit-on mowing machine was making short work of these butterfly-friendly wild flowers

WILD flowers at the peak of their bloom were today being 'beheaded' in a place that ought to be a haven for nature to thrive undisturbed - the cemetery in Cleethorpes.

A contractor for North East Lincolnshire Council was methodically at work for much of this afternoon destroying a range of wildflower species, some possibly rare, across a wide area.

Sadly, it meant that hundreds of bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects were left with nowhere to feed.

What ever happened to NELC's policy on safeguarding nature and biodiversity? Did someone tear it up?
