THERE'S SOMETHING JUST MAGICAL ABOUT BIN LORRIES SAYS LACEBY TODDLER MASON FOLEY

Here's Laceby toddler Mason Foley, held by grandad Chris, chatting with binmen Paul Hines (left) and Nik Underwood. during a pause in their round. The three-year-old's rapport with the bin crews began as soon as he first learned to stand. Now he  runs to the door when he hears the rumble of the refuse cart. He gives the crew a friendly greeting, checks the bin is empty, then waves them off as they resume their round. Now he is even demanding bedtime stories about binmen and their lorries so as to get him to sleep. The unlikely bond has come to the attention of North East Lincolnshire Council's portfoio holder for waste removal. Says he: “I am so pleased our crews are inspiring this little boy."

Below: Mason, held by grandmother Jo, checks that job has 'bin' done properly.
