Setback for Uber as NELC refuses its bid for administration centre on Wilton Road industrial estate

THERE has been a setback for car-ride firm Uber's proposal to use an office at McCue House on Humberston's Wilton Road industrial estate as an administration centre.

The firm hoped to bypass the need for planning consent by applying for what is known as 'certificate of lawfulness'.

However, after taking legal advice, North East Lincolnshire Council has refused the application.

NELC states: "It is considered that the partial change of use of the building would not be lawful as the proposed use would not permitted in line with the existing use of the property."

It is likely that Uber will now submit a formal planning application though this is unlikely to be determined much before Easter.
