Disruption ahoy! Four weeks' delays beckon for motorists using one of Cleethorpes' busiest roads

Although this part of Taylors Avenue is not scheduled for resurfacing, motorists using  much of the rest of this road will face disruption from the end of this month until the end of September

DISRUPTION beckons later this summer on one of the busiest roads in Cleethorpes.

Between Tuesday August 27 and Saturday September 28,  carriageway resurfacing and other works are to be carried out along much of  Taylors Avenue.

The precise stretch is between Hewitt’s Circus Roundabout and the junction with Chichester Road.

The works will be carried out in two phases.

Phase One  (Tuesday 27 August - Friday 20 September):

* Replacing damaged road gullies, traffic islands, drainage channels and kerbs.

* Installing new 'tactile' paving and a new raised bus stop.

These works will be carried out under temporary traffic control between 7:30am and 6pm.

In addition, there will be a 24-hour road closure on Lynton Rise at the junction with Taylors Avenue from 9 September for two weeks.

This closure is required to install a new pedestrian crossing point.

Phase Two (Tuesday 17 September - Saturday 28 September):

* Carriageway resurfacing and road marking.

Both  enable the works to be carried out and to ensure the safety of the contractors, an overnight road closure will be in place each night between 7pm and 6am for the resurfacing.

During the closure, access across Taylor’s Avenue, between Middlethorpe Road and Belvoir Road will be maintained.

During the closure vehicular access will be maintained for residents of Hewitts Manor from Hewitts Circus Roundabout only.

There will be no other vehicular access permitted during the works as alternative routes of access are available.

During the works, on-street parking will be temporarily suspended within the closure extents.

If the works are delayed due to parked vehicles, additional nights of road closures will be required to enable the works to be completed.

North East Lincolnshire Council says footway access will be maintained at all times as will access for emergency vehicles.

Says a spokesperson: "Although every effort will be made to minimise disruption throughout the works, please be aware some elements will be noisy.

"The council, its partner, Equans, and contractor, Specialist Surfacing Ltd, would like both to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and to provide an assurance that the work will be completed as quickly and safely as possible."
